Fill out <a href="http://www.wenjuan.com/s/AjUzEv/">this survey</a> by the end of this week and you could be one of 50 lucky beta users to receive a free lightbulb. The company <a href="http://www.yeelight.com/en_US/product/yeelight-sunflower">maintains a separate website for the Yeelight</a> and is headquartered in a different city from Xiaomi, so it seems likely that it’ll be possible to use Yeelights on other routers too.<br /><br /><br />The Yeelight is an LED lightblub that can display more than 1,600 different colors. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Xiaomi Corp unveiled a new product called the Smart Home Suite with a group of four components that offer security features as it broadens its range of devices that can be controlled by mobile phone.<br /><br /><img src="http://en.miui.com/data/attachment/forum/201501/19/104607ljg2j4s84xo9xs4q.png.thumb.jpg" /><br />The suite includes a Human Motion sensor, and a Pair of door and window sensors that can be used for home security, Xiaomi President Bin Lin said today at the GeekPark Innovation Festival in Beijing. The company will start a consumer test of the product Jan. 26, he said.<br /><br />“In the past, motion sensors were very complicated and large in size, so that if you wanted a system you needed professional installation,” Lin told the conference. “For this suite, there is not a single nail or wire. Now the company has announced that it will invest nearly $205 in home appliance maker Midea, for 1.29 percent stake in its Chinese parent company.<br /> “The deal between Xiaomi Technology and Midea will see strategic cooperation between the two companies in smart home initiatives and electronic products,” read a statement from Xiaomi.<br /><br />The move is in-line with the smartphone giant's efforts to diversify its product line, further than its $150 air purifier, routers, blood pressure measurement kit, smart TVs, tablet and power banks. The company has been quite vocal about its plan to innovate in the hardware and smart home spaces.<br /><br />Xiaomi plans to “groom 100 startups so they become more than just manufacturing companies”, and the move to invest in Midea resonates with this ambition. Midea manufactures air conditioners, refrigerators, kitchen appliances and more, and unveiled its own smart home vision back in March this year.<br /><br />The Chinese appliance firm invested $2.5 billion into its smart home initiative, while the company's overall revenue for 2013 stood at something like $18.7 billion.
