The first one is Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart was founded 65 years ago. In order to invest or build a shopping mall in US,  there must be 45% of the gross margin to earn money. They also need at least 22.5% gross margin to survive. People tend to open shop in most prosperous place such as city and care alot for the location. But what Wal-Mart did? He open the store in an urban area. He also does not build a new shopping mall like others instead he looked for some old warehouse and redecorate it. Don't look down on what he did as Wal-Mart managed to increase gross margin from 22.5% to  23%. Few years back i made a visit to United States with my colleagues. All of them went Costco for shopping except me. I was wondering what things do not sell in China and they need buy it in United States. Then at night they came back and I asked what did you guys bought. They showed me 2 boxes, they bought too many things and need to fill it in boxes !  Costco is unique because they only earn profit ranging from 1 to 14 %.  If any merchandise gross margin exceeded 14 percent then it need special approval from CEO. Besides that, they said from the date their company was founded there is no margin for any commodity exceed 14%. Our Mi band's standby time last for 60 days or even more compared to other international brand which only last for 5 to 7 days. Their product sold for 1000 yuan and ours just 79 yuan. Apple started selling their iPhone 6 and 6 plus only in the last quarter of 2014, and that propelled them to second in the ranking. Xiaomi's line of Mi phones are insanely popular in China. In fact, the company just surpassed Samsung to become the most popular smartphone manufacturer in China. But it's not just Xiaomi's smartphones that have attracted attention, and that's what worries Google. Several Android employees at Google have told colleagues and others that Xiaomi could "present challenges" by encouraging Android phone owners to use its own apps instead of Google's, according to Efrati. These could include apps that allow you to search for and purchase goods from retailers as well as Xiaomi's own app store, which the company already offers in China. And, although Xiaomi's non-hardware revenue doesn't amount to much today and its apps are only available in China, it eventually wants to expand these services globally, Efrati reports. If Xiaomi does try to popularize its services outside of China, it could spell trouble for Google. The search giant <a href="https://www.theinformation.com/Google-s-Confidential-Android-Contracts-Show-Rising-Requirements">requires companies that make Android phones to feature Google's apps and services</a> (i.e. Google Drive, Gmail, Google Maps, etc.) in prominent areas on the home screen. Google is event starting tighten these restrictions, according to a previous report from Efrati. This is how Google benefits from Android - since Android is open source, companies can modify and build on it for free. Data from Strategy Analytics published by Bloomberg in 2013 show that Samsung actually makes more money from Android than Google does. Xiaomi could continue to get these types of exceptions if it promotes the Google Play Store on its phones sold in China, Efrati reports. Currently, the Google Play Store is only featured on the home screen on Xiaomi's phones sold outside of China. Xiaomi, which is currently valued at $45 billion, is one of the world's most valuable private technology companies. And it's clear that the competitors have reason to be worried - Samsung, which arguably makes some of the most popular Android phones in the world, saw its profits plummet in 2014. The Galaxy S5, its flagship phone for 2014, didn't sell as well it had hoped, all while Xiaomi has seen explosive growth in China. Xiaomi also recently announced that it will begin selling some of its products in the United States, although these won't include smartphones. </div>

Samsung dropped market position amid stiff competition not only from Xiaomi, but from other Chinese manufacturers in the low- to mid-end market segments, IDC said. "Although the 3G phone shipments in China were affected by the reduction in operators' subsidy, the market was able to grow in fourth-quarter 2014 due to its growth in 4G phones," said Tay Xiaohan, IDC's Asia-Pacific senior market analyst for client devices. With carrier subsidies of its own, an American Xiaomi phone would almost certainly be free with a two-year wireless plan. But the iPhone costs just US$200, meaning that buying a Xiaomi saves the American customer just US$200. In China, in contrast, a consumer who picks Xiaomi over Apple will be saving more than US$500. The prevalence of carrier subsidies in the US guts Xiaomi’s price advantage. Without an enticingly low cost to lure people in, the US is likely to be a difficult market for Xiaomi to crack. Although its brand cachet is growing, there’s no doubt that brands like Apple and Samsung have far more recognition, and if offered the choice between a Chinese Xiaomi for free or an iPhone for US$200, I suspect most American consumers would take the iPhone. Until Xiaomi has some sort of answer to that (in addition to its patent woes), I wouldn’t expect to see any Xiaomi phones touch down in the USA. China isn't like the United StatesXiaomi could do a better job than Amazon, but we wouldn't bet on it -- at least not in the current environment. Americans may love a deal, but they're able to afford more expensive technology. American consumers are, as a whole, wealthier than their Chinese counterparts, and American carriers are more generous with subsidies and financing. Unlike China, the U.S. is a mature smartphone market, and Google's services are well-established. While Google Play largely doesn't exist in China, it's dominant in the U.S., as is Google Search and Google Maps. If Xiaomi hopes to compete in the U.S., it will either have to use a different business model, shipping devices with a more conventional version of Android, or offer smartphone owners something so compelling that they're willing to give up Google's services  -- something no company, including Amazon, has been able to do. Xiaomi is certainly a threat to Google and Apple in China, and possibly other emerging markets, but given the company's business model, it's unlikely to find success in the United States.</div>

I feel so toched right now and it feels like a dream when i was told that there are 100 Million users who using MIUI now ! The Chinese handset maker, <a href="http://www.mi.com/en/">Xiaomi</a>, has built an empire of 100 million users worldwide on this exact premise. “We’re an Internet company,” said Bin Lin, President of Xiaomi, at a press event on Thursday. “We’re not just interested in making handsets.” While it’s true that Xiaomi has been particularly successful selling directly to customers rather than through other retailers or carriers, that’s not what Lin was referring to. He was boasting about the company’s massive user base overseas, which has grown rapidly thanks to savvy social media tactics. “They are not our customers, they are our fans,” added Hugo Barra, a former Google executive who left in 2012 to serve as Vice President of Global Operations at Xiaomi.      Xiaomi has gone to great lengths to accommodate these “fans.” For instance, when the company launched its first ROM in 2010, there were only 100 users, but after it started making devices and its marketshare grew, Xiaomi honored those that had stuck with them from the beginning by printing their name in the MIUI boot loader. Then there was the time a fan requested that Xiaomi make it easier to turn on the flashlight from the Lock screen. Xiaomi, a five-year-old upstart whose name means "Little Rice," came out of nowhere to become China's fastest-selling mobile brand. It has been rapidly expanding its global footprint through direct, online sales. The company was valued at $45 billion in a December funding round that drew investors ranging from Singapore's sovereign wealth fund to a private capital firm backed by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd co-founder Jack Ma. Its Mi devices, which scored with Chinese users because of their low cost and the company's heavy reliance on user interaction and feedback, are now sold online across Asia, including most recently India. Brazil marks the company's first foray with smartphones outside of its home continent. Global operations vice president Hugo Barra said Xiaomi intends to begin selling its phones there in the first half of this year.
